Sun gallery The Sun at the time you choose, in twelve SDO, SOHO and STEREO channels

Method and sources

For the chosen date, the site asks the Helioviewer API for the closest image in each channel, has it rendered once at 512 and 1024 pixels, converts it to JPEG and keeps it. The browser only talks to the observatory.

Reading these data
Colours are conventional: each extreme-ultraviolet wavelength shows a different coronal temperature. LASCO C3 hides the solar disc behind an occulter; STEREO-A sees the Sun from another position on the Earth’s orbit.
